Joss Stone Possible Target of 'Murder Plot,' Police Say

Joss Stone is believed to have been the target of a possible "murder plot" this week following the arrest of two men near her home in Devon.

Police apprehended the suspects on Tuesday morning after they were spotted driving around the village of Cullompton by residents. Both men, who are in their early 30s, were arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and going equipped to burgle/steal, while one was also accused of driving while disqualified.

But according to reports in the British media, the two are thought to have been planning to rob and murder the 24-year-old multi-millionaire. A source was quoted in a number of outlets, including The Telegraph, saying it was thought the pair planned to cause the singer "really serious harm."

The report quotes claims that the items recovered from the suspects' Fiat Punto included a body bag, swords and maps of Stone's country home.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesperson confirmed that the two people, who remain in custody, "had in their possession information relating to an individual in the Cullompton area and items that lead us to suspect that they may have intended to commit a criminal offence." He added that the offices were carrying out "reassurance patrols" in the village and said that it was "important to stress that no properties have been burgled and no individuals have been harmed".
